“I made it for me and I like it.”
A veteran of multiple former projects including the high concept The Dexter Holmes Story and the ultra-aggressive For The Hard Way, Scarfo was ecstatic to just write regular songs again. The freedom to write what he wanted and about what he wanted was a high priority for him.
When the opportunity arose to work with a peer that he admired greatly in Chris Boyne, Scarfo jumped at the chance. With a relentless work ethic, Scarfo pumped out song after song that he would offer to Boyne to either “break”, “dump” or “finish”.
Fighting Whiskey has given Scarfo the chance to do the three things he loves – write, record and play while letting everything else fall away. Regarding Dandelions and Failure, “I got to make the record I wanted to make. If you don’t like it, that’s fine. I didn’t make it for you – I made it for me and I like it.”
