News From The Week That Was

Apologies again for last week, I had to leave in a hurry and was short of a couple of things that I needed.  Still, my hope is that “Lately” was worth the wait.  As a general update, the last two weeks were focused on honing some acoustic chops in The Cube.  We may be popping up to workshop a couple of acoustic songs in a live setting somewhere in the area very soon.

Songs About Crying, Track 4: Lately

Lyrically, this is a pretty straightforward song.  It really was just something that I was feeling in the moment.  Overall, the structure came together pretty quickly, but the real difference came when Boyne started to sing it.  I’m not sure if it was something he heard in the way that it was written, but his vocals came out with a real country twang.  After that was established, he added the backward guitars that sound kind of slidey and we were well on our way.

Three Things I’ve Learned This Week

  1. The phrase that is key to an enraged Maha is, “You just missed him by five minutes”.
  2. Cappy really, really likes beet juice.
  3. There are two types of people in this world: Those who think, “What if Mr. Big covered the theme from Perfect Strangers” and those who don’t.
